- Conduct in-depth market research, competitor analysis, and industry trend monitoring to inform strategic decision-making and maintain a competitive edge.
- Align innovation initiatives with overall business strategy and operational objectives, ensuring integration across product and service roadmaps.
- Lead or contribute to strategic planning processes, including competitor analyses, SWOT assessments, and the development of differentiated positioning in a global market.
- Support organic growth and new business by identifying and pursuing strategic opportunities.
- Develop and implement comprehensive business strategies to expand market share, drive revenue growth, optimize customer engagement, and achieve business unit objectives.
- Provide strategic expertise to proposal development and offers, ensuring alignment with organizational strengths and market needs.
- Monitor and report on key business and financial metrics related to innovation and strategic initiatives.
- Integrate ESG (Environmental, Social, Governance) and sustainability considerations into business development strategies, ensuring responsible growth.
- Collaborate with global, interdisciplinary teams—including data scientists, publishing editors, and subject-matter experts—to develop and validate innovative products and services.
- Communicate strategic and innovation goals across the business unit, ensuring buy-in from colleagues at all levels.
- Train and coach staff on innovation processes and strategic thinking.
- Initiate and manage innovation projects and processes, from ideation through implementation incl. develop and implement metrics to assess the effectiveness and efficiency of innovation activities.
- Foster a culture of innovation, encouraging idea generation, adaptability, and collaboration across teams.
You inspire us with this
- Advanced degree in business, life sciences, or a related field; MBA or equivalent preferred
- Additional qualifications in business, innovation management, or data science required
- Experience (typically 5+ years) in business or innovation development, data sciences required
- Demonstrated ability to develop and execute strategic plans, manage budgets, and deliver on revenue targets
- Familiarity with digital publishing technologies, data analytics, and emerging technologies such as AI and machine learning
- Strategic and analytical thinking, with the ability to translate insights into actionable plans with proficiency in market analysis, forecasting, and data-driven decision-making
- Innovative and action-oriented mindset with strong execution capabilities and ability to succeed
- Self-starting, high degree of independence
- High tolerance for ambiguity, strong prioritization skills, and the ability to work well with a large variety of personalities at all levels of business
- Exceptional communication, negotiation, influential and stakeholder management skills, with experience managing cross-functional teams and leading complex projects
- International and cultural sensitivity as well as working experience in an international business or environment
- Flexibility to travel when needed
